Today was Proficiency Day down at the docks for the kayaking levels of Es and Ki and the canoeing levels of Bow, Stern, Starmate, and Would-Be. It was a busy day by the lakefront, with all the campers showing off all that they learned over the session in the effort to pass levels. I got to see many campers ceremoniously pushed in the water upon their passing. In the afternoon, I also stopped by to see the Synchronized swimming class practicing their Final Show. All in all it was a very good day by the lake.
Mountaineering Mania was going on all day down on the Waterfall Field, so I dropped by to play some fun games, throw around color powder, and then jump in the lake to clean ourselves off. To end the day, we had the amazing Art Show that took place in the Arts and Crafts Hut and showcased all of the hard work and artistry done throughout the session. All of the art classes were represented, from Knitting to Sewing to Ceramics to Photography to Jewelry, to Stained Glass, and of course, Arts and Crafts.
Tonight’s Evening Program was Closing Campfire and we were joined by many special musical guests, from Campers, to Staff, and even Amber Skye, who surprised us all with a performance of our favorite, “Locked in Love.” Nothing like closing a session with familiar faces, familiar songs, and that familiar smell of the campfire burning long past the sun is down.
