A Merrie Finale

2017-07-27Today was the last day of Main Session, and I do declare that it was the perfect way to send off the campers. It was drizzling this morning up until the awards ceremony began, which fit the mood perfectly. There are so many accomplished campers that did so many things this session, from passing levels to completing projects. The titles of Ace, Eskimo, Horsemaster, King’s Player, Captain, and Would-Be were presented with honor and pride. After the ceremony we were treated to a performance by the Synchronized swimming class to a High School Musical medley.

In the afternoon we had our Final Shows, with performances by the Drill Team, Drama I and II classes as well as Puppetry, Guitar, Glee Club, Ukulele, Contemporary dance, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop. All of the classes performed so very well on the Castle stage, and I especially commend one of the ukulele classes that rewrote lyrics to “How Far I’ll Go” to make it Merrie-Woode Style.  We moved up to King Arthur’s Court for the Tumbling and Stage Combat Performances which blew me away with the talent showcased.

Tonight’s Evening Program starting at dinner was Banquet, wherein everyone sat with their cabins and enjoyed a long final meal together, singing songs and waiting for the coveted dessert of Brownie Pie to be served. After dinner it was time for the show, in which all of the counselors retold the funny stories of the session, from the constant rain showers to the impromptu photo session for the Centennial book. The evening ended with many tears and many more hugs as everyone said goodnight until the morning, but meant goodbye. To me, though, it’s always just goodnight and not goodbye.

Adieu,

Tajar
