Today, I made my way around to the Barn to say hello to the campers in the Try Everything class, which is making its final rotation to Riding. They all looked so happy and excited with their ponies and horses and I couldn’t help but smile when the smallest camper mounted the smallest pony in the barn for the first time. Afterwards, I hopped over to a Farm + Garden class which was wading into the lake on the hunt for frogs to catch and study.
In the afternoon, I peeked into rehearsal for Peter and the Starcatcher, and then caught up with Miss Carol in Knitting. The campers are beginning to use the yarn they dyed, and the tie-dye effect is groovy. In the afternoon heat, I decided to visit Synchronized Swimming and the boaters down on Lake Fairfield. The trips to Lake Glenville are still going out in the morning and afternoon, so the sailors that wanted to paddle did so on paddleboards. How picturesque it was, the paddleboards and the swimmers all gliding along in unison.
Tonight’s Evening Program was Director’s Showcase which featured camper-directed scenes selected from the plays The Elephant Man, The Miracle Worker, and The Thirty-Nine Steps. The three camper directors have spent the entire session patiently selecting scenes, auditioning campers and staff alike, staging, costuming, and rehearsing their scenes. The entire camp is extremely proud of the effort and commitment these directors have put into their projects and everyone enjoyed the performances and the talk-back afterward. What a fun night!
Ever effervescent,
Tajar
