Sing!, Rings, and Trying New Things

2017_07_13Today I joined the Farm and Garden class for some fly fishing, an activity that Merrie-Woode used to offer but has gone the wayside in the past years. Luckily, our friendly and fresh-faced Mountaineering staff knows a little something about fly fishing, and some staff members were able to teach the campers how to cast off into the lilies of Lake Fairfield. One thing you can’t teach, however, was the patience needed to wait for the bite! After all the excitement of fishing, I decided to chill out in the Bang Shop. There I found the campers making silver rings that were custom-made for their little fingers.

After lunch I stopped by Tajar to greet Costuming and see their progress. Their work on the mermaid tails is very impressive, and the designs that they have come up with are phenomenal. Speaking of the play, Peter and the Starcatcher isn’t just looking great, it sounds great too! I managed to get a sneak peek of a music rehearsal, and when the cast sings all together it sounds absolutely spectacular. The anticipation is building for the show, as well as for all of the final shows –I dropped by Contemporary dance earlier today and the class is almost completely done with their performance! I can’t wait to see all of the hard work of the session come together in the coming weeks.

Tonight’s movie was Sing! which really excited the younger campers at the beginning and by the end even the older campers were singing along. The theme of the day seems to be trying new things and embracing the time we have left together, and I do believe that Movie Night displayed just that.

Always with Merrie mirth,

Tajar
