Today, the first Sunday of the session, was as It began with the special Sunday treat of cinnamon rolls and quiche, followed by a service in Chapel led by Jim himself. I watched from the top of the ivy tree as he spoke about mindfulness moments and how to find a moment to absorb all the excitement of camp life. Next up were activity sign ups which included fantastic trips such as Grimshaws, Maiden Hair Falls, Silver Run Falls, the Old Bald Hike, the Dam Swim, and Slip N’ Slide! I decided to hop along with the campers on the “Roga.” We ran the lake trail, then cooled down by doing meditative yoga next to the lake where the stern superstars were practicing their stationary draws. This session has really kicked off!
After Cookout which was alliteration themed (I was Terrific Tajar, by which I mean I was simply myself), we had our first Evening Program in the new Castle—Deck the Counselor! Tonight’s event was certainly filled with many hilarious skits and puns, some of which rivalled Jim’s Table One jokes. It thrills me to see all of camp once more in the communal space of Castle. Be it in Chapel or Castle, Merrie-Woode girls will always find their home away from home.
