Only six more days to go and these campers sure are making the most of their time. Just walking around camp today, I witnessed two campers pass Bowman in archery, a camper pass Yeoman in riding, and another camper get her roll in kayaking! It warms my furry heart to see the campers trying their hardest and achieving their goals. After all, we’re only here for a summer at a time in this timeless place, so we all have to cherish it.
On that note, tonight’s Evening Program was Vespers. It is the final camper summer for all of the girls in the cabin of Bum’s Rest, so everyone gathered in Chapel tonight to hear their anecdotes, reflections, and memories of their time as campers. The theme of the night was evident: treasure the memories that are made every day because days end soon even in the summer.
As Tajar, who has lived among the lilies and the hemlocks and the campers for almost a century, I can attest that the summers will fly at an unbelievable pace. The campers will become counselors. The counselors will become mothers and their daughters will continue to treasure Merrie-Woode as thousands of young women have for nearly 100 years. On that note, I bid you goodnight, and tell you the same: treasure your time, at camp or at home, and treasure your daughter and the summer stories she has to tell.
