Although we’re incredibly sad to close off this session and the summer, some of the perks that come with the end of camp are undeniable! For cabins that’ve kept clean all session and received all Es, they get ice cream sundaes! With some extra yummy toppings and chocolate sauce on top, it’s the perfect cool treat on a warm day!
This morning, we sent nearly half of camp (okay, that’s an exaggeration; but it was a lot) on a hike up Old Bald! The legend has it that to be a true Merrie-Woode girl, you have to hike Old Bald. So, we had about 50 girls cross that off their list today! The views from the top of the mountain are spectacular. It makes camp look so itty bitty compared to the rest of the valley! Girls Boo Whoop down from the top, and those on the receiving end send an enthusiastic one back up!
So, on today’s Tajar Trip Camera Tuesday, I’ve loaded a whole bunch of photos from the session! We have pictures from the Nature Center, hikes, caving, and more! I apologize for the delay, but the cameras are in constant rotation and sometimes they escape me for a little while! Not to worry, all trip pictures are now up!
We wrapped up nearly all of our activities today, but not to worry, we went out with a bang! In Ceramics, we finished glazing and perfecting our works of art. After they’re fired in the kiln tonight, they’ll be shiny and ready to take home! We also finished up some cool projects in Arts and Crafts, including making tye-dye table coasters today. They’re all so pretty and unique.
Down at the docks, girls slid down makeshift slides from upside down canoes. They always have a blast with that! I skipped on over to Lily Pad where I caught Earthworks using the fire in there to make s’mores, and also, a blender to make smoothies with some of the fresh fruits and veggies from the garden. How’s that for farm-to-table?
In Riding, girls and their horses hit the trails today with a scenic and peaceful ride through camp. I got really sad at the thought of not seeing that again for a few months…but there is no time for Tajar tears this Tuesday! I will miss the views so so so much!
Tonight’s Evening Program was Closing Campfire. It’s a bittersweet moment, of course, sitting around the campfire ring with your best friends and reflecting on another amazing summer under Old Bald! We brought the spirit of Merrie-Woode back into the lake until next summer!
And under tonight’s crystal clear sky, we could see Jim on top of Old Bald playing Taps!
