Just writing the title of this blog post feels weird! Can you believe the summer is wrapping up already? I feel like the campers just got here!
We’ve been dealing with some rain here and there, but not to worry, everyone is happy, safe, and well equipped for the drizzle in their cute raincoats!
Today we had some really fun extra activities happening. We kicked off the morning on an elevated adventure up at High Ropes! Girls ventured through the course up in the trees and zip lined down back to the base of camp when they were finished. Not only is the view from up there absolutely gorgeous, but the thrill of being so high up is unparalleled. I, too, like to climb trees, and I often join the gals on their course. Did you know Tajars are great climbers?
For some other fabulous times, the girls in riding hit the trails today atop horse back. They went all around camp and through part of the woods on the backs of the prettiest ponies I’ve ever seen! I love intersecting them on the road through camp. Luckily, the horses and I are friends, so they don’t see me as threatening anymore. I hang with them in the barn all the time!
We also had a hike go out today which was such a blast! Girls, accompanied by two awesome counselors, explored the great outdoors just outside of camp at Maidenhair Falls! Those views are also to die for!
Down at the docks, we paddled around and splashed in the sunshine. The colorful contrast of the kayaks against the lake water always looks so beautiful in the foreground of Old Bald. I think that’s one of the sights I’ll miss most come next week. Just the thought of it is provoking my Tajar tears…
A harpist came and joined us for rest hour down at Lily Pad! She played such gentle and uplifting music while girls braided friendship bracelets and read relaxing books. Then, tonight’s Evening Program was Movie Night! We watched “Gnomeo and Juliet” which is such a classic! Girls laughed and sang along to the playful movie and munched on popcorn and Kit Kats while watching!
After that, we sang taps and retreated back to our humble abodes to kiss the stars goodnight.
