“If All the Rain Drops Were Lemon Drops and Gum Drops…”

Howdy from a happy Tajar! We spent the morning adventuring in the great outdoors on the Low Ropes Course and at Silver Run Falls where girls swam and hiked! I hopped on the back of the van to venture out of camp for a little while, but as soon as we got to the end of the camp road, I started to miss my home base and quickly returned. Who would want to leave when it’s so much fun here?

We paddled down at the docks and learned all sorts of fun things about how to properly maneuver both a canoe and kayak. We also set sail with the nice breeze we had blowing across the water today! It’s always so scenic to look out on the rippling lake and see the reflection of the mountain and tree tops contrasted against the bright white sails piercing through the sky. I know it’s a view I’ll never be tired of.

In Earthworks, we built fires and pitched tents and learned about the core principles of Leave No Trace. The girls listened intently, understanding their impact on the planet on both the large and small scales. We also progressed on our crafts in Ceramics and Jewelry! Girls made bowls on the ceramics wheel today, which involves skill, patience, creativity, and the willingness to learn! I love watching their clay transform from a blob to a masterpiece. I’m even more excited to see how they turn out once glazed! In Jewelry, we used wire to wrap around rocks and stones that we later turned into necklaces and other fancy décor.

At the barn, we groomed horses for a little, but then quickly jumped into riding! The little gals played red light, green light, which is a game that teaches them how to control the horses’ movement and direction.

Did I mention we had jambalaya for lunch? It’s my favorite meal, so it’s worth noting. Also, the title of the blog today: We had a little rain storm just before dinner and one of the best Merrie-Woode songs sings about how nice it’d be if raindrops were candy instead. Tonight, that would’ve been nice!

Anyway, tonight’s Evening Program was BINGO! It was festive, fabulous, and fun! We dressed in our brightest brights and tights and had an energy that shook the Dining Hall floor! Not to mention, between rounds, we had epic dance parties. If there’s one thing Merrie-Woode girls always dominate at, it’s dance parties!

We’re tired campers, but happy nonetheless! This session is already flying by, and we’re enjoying every second of it!

***Please note that this evening’s rain storm knocked out our phones and internet in camp. I am loading my blog from a remote site so that you know the fun we had today. The phone company is aware of the problem and will hopefully get things fixed tomorrow. If you’re trying to call or e-mail camp, please be patient while we wait for repairs.

***Also know that we will upload all of today’s photos just as soon as service is restored. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

BINGO,

Tajar
