Today was a bittersweet day, as it was the final full day of the session as well as the day of Final Shows. In the morning, after a quite necessary packing time, we had Castle at Chapel where recognitions were given to the campers that have passed levels in activities and participated in special events throughout the session. The new Captains received their hats, King’s Players their necklaces, Aces their charms, and so on. After all of the congratulations were over, Synchronized Swimming performed their final show down at the swim docks. After a wonderful Drill Team Performance in the covered arena, we were treated to a lovely show of tumbling, dancing, guitar- and ukulele-playing, acting, and singing by the various performing arts classes. There was such an array of talent and it was clear that no moment of the session was put to waste.
In the afternoon we all watched the final match of the camper-counselor tennis tournament in awe and thoroughly congratulated the winner. After a delicious dinner, all of camp packed into Castle to watch the end of session slideshow and Banquet, a collection of sketches and songs detailing the humorous anecdotes of the last five weeks. There were laughs, then tears, then goodnights and goodbyes. Now it is time for me, too, to sign off for the session and to wish all of the campers a safe travel home tomorrow.
