I got so excited this morning as I woke up in my tree-top bed because I heard cars coming down the camp road and I remembered that today was opening day for the August session! I couldn’t wait to meet all of the new campers and see what fun things they would do this session. After everyone was dropped off and bunks were chosen, cubbies filled, and swim evaluations and dunks tests taken, we all gathered together in the Dining Hall for our first meal together. Then it was off to Lily Pad where the counselors put on skits to show all of the activities that are offered this session. Afterwards, the campers toured all around camp, visited the Stock Shop, and signed up for activities.
Tonight’s Evening Program was Opening Campfire, which we had in Castle as the rain was being extremely persistent. Nevertheless, it was cozy and dry up on the Castle Hill and we all sang the traditional songs around a fire in one of the fireplaces. Even the campfire band joined us in the new setting and the acoustics were amazing. While we were all at campfire, the Opening Night Fairy went around to all of the cabins and left everyone a note and a little gift to send sweet dreams to all of the campers and counselors tonight. As for me, I don’t need anything special to put me to bed tonight!
