A Very Merrie Christmas

2018_07_25Today was a very exciting day, as it was Christmas in July, one of our favorite holidays here at camp. The Dining Hall was decorated in style and cheer with garlands, signs, and snowmen made by campers during Sunday activities. After the festivities at breakfast were over I joined the campers in Earthworks for some Leave No Trace principles jeopardy! The campers were on fire with their answers and clearly knew their stuff. Afterwards I sauntered down to the barn where some campers were having the time of their lives jumping horses around the ring.

In Farm and Garden, the campers decided to be a little silly and go on a nature walk—into the Nature Nook pond. There was much splashing and chasing of tadpoles and the campers had quite the time. At the docks there was more splashing, this time between paddle boarders, canoers, and kayakers. Even though it began to drizzle in the afternoon, the rain didn’t stop everyone from having a wonderful time! King Arthur’s Court was filled with Landsports and Archery classes who were staying dry and keeping up on their basketball and soccer game.

Tonight the Pages, Yeomen, and Squires packed into Castle to watch the Opening Night of Crazy For You, which featured almost 40 campers both onstage and off. It took the entire session to put on the marvelous show, and the campers’ hard work clearly paid off as they sang and danced their hearts out. The Knight campers will see the show tomorrow night, but tonight they were busy painting their plaques to put their mark on their cabin for the summer. And all this excitement on top of it being Christmas in July! I almost couldn’t handle it.

Rocking around the Christmas tree,

Tajar
