This morning was a bright and beautiful one, so I decided to visit the tetherball courts with the Landsports classes. The tetherballs were flying and spirits were high as the sun grew higher in the sky. In Castle, the Drama class was perfecting their scene with blocking, lights, and costumes! In Woodworking, the campers were busy making custom wooden clock faces, and in Stained Glass, I saw some beautuiful designs coming to completion.
In the afternoon, the Would Bes were practicing for river eddies and having a lot of fun in the rolling area of the lake. Meanwhile, synchronized swimming was having a grand old time in the swimming area. They’ve been practicing their Final Shows number since the first day of classes and their hard work certainly has paid off. I decided it was time to get creative, so I stepped in to the Arts and Crafts hut where the campers were making glittery sleep masks—even campers have to snore in style!
Tonight’s Evening program was Camp Olympics! I spent all evening running around to the different stations with the campers who were all competing for the glory of the Merrie Woode spirit. The teams competed in rounds of wheelbarrow racing, slalom running, Electric Sliding, and wall climbing, among many other glorious feats. At the end of the night, while one team reigned victorious, everybody got to take a hot shower, which is the true prize for their endeavors.
Off to get sudsy,
Tajar
