Today was a lovely day filled with exciting new things. The three-day hike returned today with many stories and much laundry. The Would Bes, recently back from their trip to Camp Cup, also paddled the Nantahala River today. Little old me chose to stay in camp and see what everyone else was up to. In Contemporary Dance the campers were working hard on their stretches so they can be in top shape for their final shows number. In Earthworks, the campers were learning about hiking safety and etiquette so they can preserve the beauty of Merrie Woode trails and also respect others hiking nearby—I’m sure this will come in handy on our many outings to Whiteside, the Appalachian Trail, and other impressive hikes!

In the afternoon, I journeyed to the barn to see what everyone was up to. The Drill Team went on a special riding overnight up at Old Bald last night and I caught up with them as they were unpacking and hosing their horses down after their long trip. On the Landsports field, I ran into some classes playing a raucous came of SPUD and an Archery class practicing their aim so they can enter the hallowed Bullseye Club. In typical Thursday fashion, all of the campers grabbed a quick bag supper then got into their comfiest clothes for Movie Night! Tonight’s showing was of Ratatouille, and I sure am now inspired to cook some—if a rat can make it as a chef, who’s to say this old Tajar can’t?

Dreaming of soufflés and sunshine,

Tajar
