Clik here to view.A very merrie Fourth of July to all of you folks out there! This day might be my favorite at camp because everyone is dressed up oh so patriotically. In the morning, we were all woken up by the horses on parade to wish us a good morning and a happy Independence Day. The campers were decked out in red, white, and blue stars and stripes for the special devotional and flag-raising ceremony down by the docks and then they were all off to activities. This morning, I visited Tennis high up at the courts, where the campers were working hard on their serves and volleys. In Stained Glass, the artists were soldering away and the woodworkers up in Castle were having a blast making string art with boards, nails, and string.
In the afternoon, I paid a visit to the barn where the campers were practicing barrel racing. In Farm and Garden, the campers were seeing the progress of the chicks and checking in on the waterfront garden to see the cucumber, tomato, and basil plants that they hope to use in a special Dining Hall meal soon. Tonight’s Evening Program was Carnival, a bonanza comprised of a dunk tank station, a blow-up slide, face painting, a cookie walk, a Coca Cola toss, and shaving cream pies galore! After much shrieking and laughing, everyone settled down at the end of the night to watch Jim’s magical fireworks over Lake Fairfield. Whether you were watching the real thing or just the rippled reflection in the water, it was certainly a sight to see.
From the best camp in the nation,
Tajar
