Today was the first day of August and the session is already in full swing. There’s so much going on around camp, it is hard to keep up sometimes. This morning, I hung out with the Farm and Garden class that was playing around with the three miniature donkeys and then hopped over to the covered arena to visit a Riding Class. They were having a blast on their ponies! Over on the Archery Field, I caught up with some campers who were shooting arrows for the first time ever, and on the Landsports Field there was a class playing World Cup soccer. What fun!
This afternoon, I played around in a canoe with the Canoeing-Kayaking combo class and then joined a Jazz class to learn the Charleston. It was so fun to paddle and then pirouette! Afterwards, I made my way over to Tajar to learn some different stiches with Sewing. There are so many things you can make with just a needle and thread!
Tonight’s Evening Program was Healing Force, the favorite traditional African drumming band that visits us here at Merrie-Woode every-so-often. The campers loved singing along to all of the songs and playing some shakeres and bongos in the drum circle finale. All in all it was a very busy, bustling, groovy day.
