Nothing makes this Tajar happier than seeing camp filled with people at play, and today made me leap with joy. Orientation is in full swing with the summer staff setting up their activities and preparing for the first session of campers. This morning, they were joined by John Brantley, who provided some insightful leadership advice and had the whole dining hall erupting in laughter and percussion. Afterwards, the staff broke up into activity groups and planned some of their skits for Opening Day. I overheard Swimming Staff planning their rendition of a certain song about someone by the name of Moana…I wonder what that could be about. At lunch, the counselors went over Dining Hall etiquette such as keeping elbows off the tables, feet off the chairs, and prehensile tails out of the way (whoops!). The next task was body tracing, where the staff discussed the ins-and-outs of the different age groups at camp, and then more activity time. After dinner, the whole staff went out to bowling and had a grand old time! I’ve always been a good bowler—the extra tail power helps, I’ve been told. Phew! What a busy day! Only four more days until campers arrive, and I cannot wait!
Sleepily, and with increasing anticipation,
Tajar
