Sundays are the best days in camp because we get to go on so many field trips (weather permitting), eat fried chicken (a classic), have a beautiful Chapel service, and have Cookout and Campfire in the same night! Oh, not to mention, we wake up to quiche and cinnamon rolls…talk about a good day start to finish.
For a quick recap of today, the cast of “1776” made a trip to Flat Rock Playhouse, and various groups of gals headed out for some afternoon fun! A team made their way up to Rainbow Falls for a hike and a swim. A different group checked out Grimshaw’s Sliding Rock and, of course, we had girls hike Old Bald and do the Dam Swim!
The Would Bes and other gals in the Boating Program trying to accomplish their goals this summer spent their afternoon down in the lake working closely with counselors to practice different skills. It was such a fun time bee bopping around and catching up with all of the in camp activities. Girls who were tye dyeing had awesome pieces in the works. Their designs were so cute that I jumped in and made some Tajar tye dye ties for my professional occasions.
Girls and Captain Doug played some soccer in the Land Sports field and then headed up to the Dunns house to watch the World Cup! Close by, we had Interpretive dancing in Chapel and they sure had some cool moves!
Tonight at Cookout, the theme was “Throw Down for Your Home Town” and girls were decked out in their coolest home town looks. Outfits ranged from local sports team jerseys to city-themed attire! It’s always so nice to start a week out on the Waterfall Field surrounded by your best friends!
Campfire was as pretty as ever, but with a twist! The girls of Bum’s Rest, who were painted blue, ran into the Campfire ring to perform a ritualistic-oldest-cabin song and dance. Sometimes they seem so scary at first!
Sleepy Tajar is off to go sleep under the stars.
