An Eggcelent Day!!!

I lied. I said yesterday was the prettiest day at camp so far, and that was true…yesterday. But today…today was something else. At times I had to rub my eyes because I was in genuine disbelief that something could be so beautiful. We wore jackets this morning because the sun had yet to heat up the cool mountain air. But by afternoon, the warmth radiating from above had mitigated the chilly temperatures!

What an amazing day all around. We welcomed back our avid Mountaineering squad from their three-day-hike to Shining Rock Wilderness Area in the Pisgah National Forest. They didn’t smell their best, but they looked their best: a combination of warn out and happy. That sure made us all glad to have them back!

In Farm and Garden, things were cookin’. Yesterday, I hopped over to the garden to spy on the veggies, and lo and behold, today they ate them! After going to the Chicken Coup to gather some fresh eggs, they went and picked some lettuce and other assortments of spices from the garden, and then the gals and their counselors headed over to Lily Pad to cook up the freshest omelets anyone’s ever had!

Many girls learned how to crack an egg. Every girl cracked a smile!

The lake was glistening as usual. The sky had not a single cloud in it. Not one. The Carolina Blue was as bright and glorious as ever, and the sunshine spreading through camp on this warm day made everyone feel so content and wholesome. I wish every day could be this magical.

Tonight’s Evening Program was Plaque Night. Girls and their cabin mates gathered on the Waterfall Field to paint their session’s plaque. From mountainscape designs to unique cabin designs, and everything in between, they all came out so well! This is one of my favorite parts about camp. My plaque usually comes out a bit wonky (have you ever seen a Tajar hold a paintbrush? It’s awkward) but it’s the thought that counts, right? I hope so.
