Always Full of Folly

2018_07_02Today was an especially fun day here at Merrie Woode. To begin, I hopped around the dock where campers in Earthworks were practicing their fly fishing skills and actually reeling some in for all of their efforts! In Scene Study, the camper directors were holding auditions for their scenes, so I peeked in to see all of the monologues and such. It’s so exciting to see campers in leadership roles, teaching and direction other campers as well as counselors! Similarly, down at the barn I sat in on a lesson about horse health given by one camper to another as a means of passing a level in riding.

In the afternoon, I decided to see what the Ace tennis players were up to at the Tennis Courts. The campers were swinging away and playing various tennis games. In Jewelry the campers were making copper earrings with stamping tools and impressive drills, while the potters in ceramics were making beautiful pinch pots as they waited for their first project, fairy houses, to be fired and finished for glazing. Tonight’s Evening Program was Whose Line is it Anyway and everyone was in stiches at the hilarity that graced the Castle stage. The counselors sure put on a show—I was even name-dropped a time or two!—and the night ended in many laughs and, hopefully, many baths. A nice long shower is never needed more than after a long day of fun.

Always silly and sudsy,

Tajar
