Today has been a day filled with wonder and reflection. It began down by the docks, where the paddlers were competing in a race where the canoers used kayak paddles and vice versa. The lake water was a refreshing break form the hot sun that has been shining on Merrie Woode these past few days. Down in the Ceramics studio, I caught the sculptors sitting in the cool shade and glazing their creations. On the archery field, the archers were hard at work passing levels and moving the targets further and further back to make shooting even more challenging.
In the afternoon, I got a very lovely surprise. The chicks were ready to be met and I sure did enjoy saying hello to them with the help of a Farm and Garden class. Some chicks were even climbing into Middie pockets—they must be true Merrie Woode chickens already! In Castle, another amazing event was occurring. The cast of The Wind in the Willows was performing their first full dress rehearsal and I got to peek in and see all of the woodland creatures come to life onstage! Tonight’s Evening Program was Vespers. The campers of the oldest cabin reflected on their experiences at Merrie Woode and gave their advice to all other campers. It truly was a somber evening, but as the sun set, the only light came from the candles the oldest campers were holding, I remembered all the years I have spent here and see the wisdom that comes with being a true Merrie-Woode girl in all of the campers.
Always remember,
Tajar
