Happy New Year to our whole Merrie-Woode family, near and far! As we celebrate the start of 2018, we have much to be thankful for here at camp. We are especially excited because our big Centennial Celebration is just a few months away. If you haven’t done it yet, mark your calendar for June 22 – 24, 2018 and plan to join us in commemorating the first hundred years of Merrie-Woode as we ring in the next century of camping on the shores of Lake Fairfield!
Today we want to share with you some useful tools as we look toward our Centennial. At noon on January 8th we will open online registration for all of our Centennial events and activities. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions below to help you navigate any concerns you might have as you register online. We also have included a link to the accommodations list we recently published in the fall newsletter, in case you have not secured a rental house or hotel for the weekend. Happy registering; we look forward to seeing you in June!
Centennial Registration Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Do I have to register, just to come walk around camp? I don’t want to do any meals or activities; I just want to visit and walk around.
The Centennial weekend will be a fun opportunity to visit Merrie-Woode and reconnect with long-time camp friends. We ask that all visitors to the property please register so that we can account for all of the visitors who are coming to town. Your registration is your RSVP. Please do not show up unannounced, as we want to be prepared with a registration packet and nametag for you. -
Can I register a group of people?
You may register up to 6 people in your immediate family, but please be mindful that Merrie-Woode will need the full name, birthdate, and waiver for each registered individual. Please be sure that you have that information before proceeding with registration. Let your extended family and friends register themselves. -
I’m still not sure how many will be in my party. Can I make a reservation now and pay later?
You must pay at the time of registration. Please be prepared to pay by credit card when you register. If you do not know how many are in your party, you may do an additional registration later. Note that by waiting to add people to your registration, events may fill to capacity in the interim. -
Can I register for individual events or do I have to attend everything?
You may register for as many or as few events as you like. Please note that you must register for all events and activities that you plan to attend, as we cannot accommodate last minute drop-ins. -
What happens if an event is full? Will you have a waiting list?
As soon as an event fills to capacity, we will begin a wait list for the event. We will notify you by phone if tickets become available for your chosen event. -
What if I have to cancel?
If you must cancel, please email annette@merriewoode.com. -
If I find later that I cannot use my tickets, may I give them to a friend?
The tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE due to waivers and possible waitlists for events. If you find later that you cannot use your tickets, you must contact camp. -
Why do some events have a ticket price and others are free?
The Merrie-Woode Foundation, Inc. is underwriting this Centennial Events Weekend. The ticketing prices will aid in offsetting the cost of food and beverage at the lunch and dinner events. -
Can I register my child for a different event than myself? (For example: Can my child hike Old Bald while I walk the Lake Trial?)
Events have been designed for family participation. Children should be supervised by their parent or guardian at all times. -
Can I change the Saturday activities for which I have registered?
We ask that you register for the activities that you plan to attend. If you must change your activity selections, please email annette@merriewoode.com. -
Are there volunteer opportunities available?
Yes! Please email betsy@merriewoode.com to indicate your interest in volunteering. The volunteer coordinator will reach out to you in the coming months. -
How will parking work for the events? Will there be parking on site?
There will be satellite lots near Camp Merrie-Woode where guests will park and use our shuttles to enter/exit camp property. Visitors with ADA mobility challenges will be able to park in designated locations at Merrie-Woode and will be shuttled to the events via golf carts. -
Will there be a shuttle to my hotel?
Guests will be asked to park at the satellite lot and shuttled to/from Camp Merrie-Woode. It will be our guests’ responsibility to drive from the satellite lot back to their hotel or rental home. The Hampton Inn & Suites, Cashiers – Sapphire Valley will be on the shuttle loop, so guests staying there will not need to park at the satellite lots. -
Will childcare be available?
There will be no childcare available, so please plan accordingly. All events are family friendly except the Saturday night dinner, so please feel free to bring your entire family for a weekend of fun! -
Can I bring my children on Saturday night?
The Saturday night event is geared toward our adult guests, and we asked that all attendees adhere to the 18+ guideline. -
What is the attire for Friday and Saturday nights?
Friday night is casual attire for the Bluegrass and Barbecue event on the waterfall field. Flats, wedges, or other comfortable shoes are recommended. Saturday night is summer cocktail attire with dresses or dressy pants recommended for ladies and jacket without tie for men. The Saturday night event will take place at the Inn Site, therefore, flat or wedge shoes are recommended for ladies. -
Do I need to bring a Photo ID with me to the Friday and Saturday night events?
Yes, you will be required to show proof of age, if you anticipate having an adult beverage. These events will also require designated wrist bands. -
Can I attend campfire or the candlelight ceremony but not dinner on Friday?
The Friday night ticket includes BBQ dinner, one seating of campfire, and the candlelight ceremony. -
Will there be nurses on site?
Yes. We house two registered nurses at all times in the summer, and they will be on property for the Centennial for any basic first aid needs that may arise. -
Will events be cancelled in the event of severe weather?
All events will be hosted rain or shine, however, you will be notified by text message if we have an extreme weather emergency that requires the cancellation of an event. This decision will be made by Merrie-Woode’s Executive Directors, if needed. -
Can I buy a Centennial book or bracelet during the Events weekend?
A limited number of Centennial books will be available for purchase. We recommend ordering a copy now to ensure that you are able to get one. The CMW gold bracelets are made to order and will not be available at the events. Please order through the Merrie-Woode website prior to April 1st to ensure home delivery before the Centennial Events weekend. -
