What’s Crackin’?

I simply cannot contain myself when the baby chicks are out! They’re so small that they fit in the pocket of a middie (yes, this has been proven) and so delicate that they can only be petted with a finger as light as a feather. It’s beyond precious to see the gals and their chicks! Farm and Garden had such a treat today with all of the babies out. They learned about the incubation (four syllables—wow) and the hatching through maturity age. There’s so much to learn and what better way to pay attention to the lesson than with the literal cutest things in the world in your palm? I rest my case.

For some more animal adventure, we had the girls leave the Barn and head up for a trail ride! Tajar, obviously, tagged along. Not only do I love a little hike, but I love the horses as well. Munchie, the pony, is definitely my favorite. He’s more or less my size. They headed up the hill and blazed the trails atop the backs of very shiny and pretty horses today. What a great day for a ride!

There was so much happening today, I hit my 11,000 step goal before dinner time! I pranced up to Castle to see the play’s progress, and Drama never fails to impress. The set of the play had me feeling like I was somewhere between 1775 and 1777, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I’ll think on it more and report back soon… the paint job is impeccable and the stage blocking is, as per usual, genius. I can’t wait to see our girls take on the founding fathers!

Speaking of drama, a little birdie told me that the Stagecrafters were up and about in the sky deck assembling lights and such. Without hesitation, I climbed up Castle and joined the ladies (and qualified staff, of course) to see what the buzz was about. Next thing I know, we’re learning about the different chambers of the double planar convex lenses and, after a little science, we saw that our reflections were flipped when looking through the other side of the lens. As you might assume, we had plenty of fun with that!

The docks are a little less rambunctious with a few of our girls gone at Camp Cup, where they compete in campy things against other camps. I don’t think there’s much of a better explanation than that, but it looks like tons of fun and we usually win a punny prize. We’ve received cheese puffs in the past for being the cheesiest camp, and if that’s not a win in your book, I don’t know what is.

We ended the day in the best way possible: laughing! Our beloved Chase Brantley, who literally went to Clown School, surprised campers with a show tonight. He put on a few different skits, all intertwined with an odd, but fun, nonetheless, story! Everyone loved his grandma act, and we couldn’t get enough of the special guests: Caroline and Courtney! They’re quite the dynamic duo!

Whew, what a great day: warm weather, happy campers, and lots of giggles.
