Just another day in paradise (as Captain Doug always says)! The cool morning gave way to a beautiful and sunny day! On the lake, the campers were having a mighty fine time in kayaks and canoes, as well as swimming and trying out the Paddleboards. To dry off, I popped into Ceramics to warm up by the kiln and scan the beautiful projects they were working on. After I warmed a bit, I ambled over to Archery to see how many of my camper friends had made bullseyes. There are some fine young bow shooters over there! One camper got a bullseye while I was watching from a tree! Amazing! I also stopped by and listened to the sweet sounds of the guitar and ukulele classes before heading up to the trees above the tennis courts. To my surprise, a brief morning shower moved their class into King Arthur’s Court where the girls were playing Ping Pong, 9 Square, and playing a variety of other games. Some stopped for some goofy poses with Millie and Max.
After lunch and a decidedly restful Rest Hour, I popped by Tajar (love that building…especially the name) to check on their soft and artistic knitting projects before I scampered up to the Dance Studio to see how far the dancers had progressed on their Final Show routine. I must say, the twinkled-toed dancers sure gave me a run for my money with my moonlight dolly-dilled dances and all! Before I got too carried away, I dropped by Lily Pad to taste the yummy Smoothies the Farm and Garden class were making.
Some of the girls got to take a trip to the Tryon Summer 5 Horse Show at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The girls were amazed by the incredible facility and level of competition. They also found a carousel and a new dog friend. I must admit, I’m a little jealous.
Tonight’s Evening Program was a Mystery Dinner Night, which turned out to be a themed celebration and feast. The themed dinner was followed by a showing of the movie Moana! The costumes and makeup were hysterical, the flower arrangements and table decorations (made by the campers) were beautiful, and the food was delicious—especially the yummy cupcakes and snow cones for dessert—and the movie was a perfect way to end this beautiful day.
By the way, I do my best to move through the entirety of camp, but if your daughter seems to be camera shy or missing from the pictures lately, be sure to e-mail my friend Mr. Jim at jim@merriewoode.com and we’ll try to track her down for some pics.
