We’re still catching up on rest from our Fourth of July Extravaganza! But, we’re slowly making our way back into our activities, projects, and regular schedule. It’s hard to believe that two of the five weeks of this session have passed already. The cabin, offering our devotional this morning, challenged us to regularly use our imagination and embrace the time we have left at camp. Both were excellent tips and reminders. I always embrace the special moments and appreciate when my camper neighbors are present. And, Tajars are known to have pretty creative imaginations.
While the weather looked threatening at times, we dodged the little bit of rain and enjoyed a mostly sunny and warm day. After a yummy lunch of macaroni & cheese (a Tajar favorite), soup, sandwiches, and salad bar, we celebrated a birthday before taking full advantage of our rest hour. Afterwards, we headed in to our afternoon full of fun and imagination use.
Camp was busy and full of action this afternoon with girls working on their weaving and ceramics projects. I could’ve used one of those expert weavers to get the tucks out of my tail. The girls were hitting bullseyes in Archery and the warm water in the lake was perfect for swimming, paddling, and sailing
In the past few days, we have raised our flag, placed a large flag on Old Bald, sang the National Anthem to our flag, and tonight we “Captured the Flag.” It was a full-camp version of Capture the Flag. When all was said and done, it was the Greys that earned the bragging rights (but, bragging not a Merrie-Woode virtue). It was a lot of fun and we were once again exhausted as we settled in for another well-deserved night’s sleep in our cabins and under the watchful eye of Old Bald.
