What word describes bright colors, a fun time, and dance parties like you’ve never seen before? Bingo! You guessed it!
In case it wasn’t obvious yet, tonight’s Evening Program was Bingo! We dressed in our brights and tights and gave a youthful twist to the notoriously senior game. The Dining Hall turned into a party with candy prizes and high energy. I feel badly for anyone who missed it…
Before we got to arguably the best night yet, we had a day filled with excitement! Mountaineering took a full day hike to Whiteside Mountain where the girls took in some of the prettiest views North Carolina has to offer.
The Stagecraft class took their talents to the Sky Deck and, luckily, Tajar was small enough to crawl up there with them. I got to witness the girls installing the lights for the session’s show and all sorts of intricate cables up in that grid-like structure. It was so cool!
The breeze was on our side today in Sailing, and Captain Doug helped the girls read the wind and adjust their tillers and sheets accordingly. It’s always nice to sneak onto the water for an afternoon sail.
Up in riding, the Barn was horsin’ around! Girls learned different positions on the horse, proper riding styles, and how to tack and untack their horses. Some of the horses and I are such good friends, I sneak into their stables sometimes when it’s raining. They always make room for one more!
On the Boat Docks, the Would-Bes took turns launching off the diving board in their kayaks to prepare for the rapids they’ll encounter on their many river trips this summer. If they didn’t land upright after taking a dive down, it was no problem for them. The adept paddlers just roll on up!
The gals up in King Arthur’s Court doing the tumbling tricks were as flexible and agile as ever! I’m going to get a handstand down by the end of the summer; I just have to keep watching them do it. I’m so close!
What a busy day indeed. My CatBit has me at 13,146 steps today. Bingo’s dance parties heavily contributed to that.
