Today was the last day of classes, and I certainly was not going to waste my time today. I visited just about every period I could just to see what the campers were up to. In Arts and Crafts the crafters were making colorful slime and in ceramics the potters were taking home their beautiful mugs, bowls, and other tiny sculptures. In Castle the Musical Theater class was making up their own dance performance to “Under the Sea,” while the Tennis class was practicing serves and footwork up at the courts. Before lunch we were treated to the final performance of synchronized swimming’s mashup of songs about rain, which was very pertinent to the weather of this session, but the sky was clear all day.
In the afternoon the campers all gathered in Castle to watch Ferdinand, which was a hit all around. Then we all had time to pack our things and prepare for the night’s festivities. After eating a delicious banquet supper, we all adjourned to Castle for a celebration of the session with the traditional end-of-the-session slideshow, which garnered many laughs. Then it was time for the skits reenacting the funny moments of the session and the traditional songs to close out the session and the summer. Tomorrow the campers and counselors will all leave down the camp road, leaving me with this place of rarest beauty all to myself. I’ll enjoy the quiet but miss the fun, and the countdown will start until next year when the counselors again drive home to Merrie-Woode.
